JURE 2008 Theme:
The theme of Jure 2008 is Innovative and Creative Perspectives: New Directions in Educational Research. Debates about the so called “quantitative-qualitative divide” seem long outdated. A wide range of approaches (mixed methodologies; systemic approaches; ecological models) are all now part of the discourse of a growing and vibrant community of researchers in education. The overwhelming use of new technologies that has marked educational research in the past decades has also provided a whole new realm of possibilities for conducting research and interpreting research findings. The aim of JURE 2008 is to provide a space for all young researchers to focus on the innovative rather than the traditional aspects of their research projects. The goal of this conference is to highlight the creative aspects of the work of new researchers and to open possibilities for discussing the limitations and contributions of these new perspectives with experienced researchers in the field.
The Conference:
JURE 2008 provides a wide range of opportunities for participants to engage in active
exchanges of ideas. The Conference includes different presentation formats including keynotes, paper sessions,
interactive poster and round table sessions, and “hands on” workshops. With the aim of enhancing opportunities for in-depth discussion
the organising committee has introduced a peer-reviewed process by which papers and posters will be reciprocally
reviewed by the participants.
The aim of JURE is to contribute to the generation of an active and cohesive community of young researchers.
Therefore, the conference also includes multiple instances of informal chats during coffee breaks and lunch hours.
And last but not least! Because we all appreciate some relaxation among all this intense scholarly activity the
programme includes social activities which will make the most of the summer and Leuven. Do come and join us!
About JURE:
The Junior Researchers of EARLI (JURE) is a network dedicated to the interests of all junior researchers of EARLI. The term "junior researcher" includes PhD-students and graduates who have received their doctorate within the last two years. The primary aim of JURE is to represent and support research students on matters that are of interest to them. Furthermore, learning and interaction among all junior researchers as well as among junior and senior researchers are significant goals for JURE. JURE arranges meetings where junior researchers can discuss their research topics with other juniors as well as with seniors, and where they can attend workshops on various topics, for instance academic writing and presentation skills. JURE provides an environment where juniors can socialise and participate in a scientific community.
